The Backstory
“This painting is born from a long-standing fascination with the earth’s raw, unyielding power. The Tectonic Pulse explores the interplay of massive forces that shape our world, visualizing the tension and inevitable shifts occurring deep beneath our feet and across millennia.
I wanted to capture the contrast between ancient, enduring rock and the sudden, explosive energy that can tear it apart. The thick, tactile white central form represents a primordial continent, its heavily textured surface speaking to ages of erosion and compression.
To its left, the dense, dark red panel, scarred with geometric patterns, symbolizes trapped volcanic energy and a structured past, straining against confinement. This energy surges and spills into the jagged red crack that bifurcates the right-hand panel, a striking visualization of a fault line and the dynamic release of energy.
The rich blue and yellow fields represent the primeval ocean and sky, the elements that contain and react to this colossal movement. This piece isn’t just about geology; it’s about life’s resilience—symbolized by the central green void, a seed of life or an ancient jungle clinging to existence amidst chaotic change. The work is a meditation on the beauty of upheaval and the enduring rhythms of our planet, a reminder of the monumental forces at play just beyond our everyday perception.”
